Fox High School Senior Earns NHS Scholarship

MaryAnna Sansone NHS Scholarship Recipient

Arnold (MO)—MaryAnna Sansone, a senior and member of the National Honor Society (NHS) at Fox High School,has been named one of 500 national semifinalists in the National Honor Society Scholarship program.  Sansone was chosen from more than 11,000 applicants and will receive a $2,850 scholarship. 

"MaryAnna is one of the most driven and productive students that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.  Her passion for school improvement and student leadership development has had such a profound impact on school improvement at Fox High School.  She has been instrumental at completely revamping and reorganizing our NHS chapter which has created many additional leadership opportunities for students that didn't exist prior to involvement in the reorganization of the chapter.” – Dr. Ryan Sherp, Fox High School Principal.

High school seniors who are members in good standing of an active National Honor Society chapter are able to apply for an NHS Scholarship. Finalists are selected on the basis of their leadership skills; participation in service organizations, clubs, and other student groups at school and in the community; and their academic record. As a semifinalist, Sansone is recognized as one of the top 500 NHS members in the nation this school year.

While at Fox High School, Sansone is current President of National Honor Society, four year Representative of Student Council, member of Chamber Choir and Concert Choir, Director of Varsity Men’s Uniform Department, Tri-M Music Honor Society Member, three time MO State Qualifier for solo & ensemble.  Outside of school, Sansone is a Fox District Representative of Youth Leadership Council Make-A-Wish Missouri, member of Arnold Garden Club, YWCA Future Leader, active member of Synergy youth group at First Baptist Church of Arnold, Part time Child Care provider at Firm Foundation Day Care, involved in several community service projects and enjoys babysitting.  This fall she plans to attend Wheaton College in Norton, MA to study History and International Relations.

NHS Scholarships have been awarded by NASSP since 1946, providing more than $15 million in scholarships to outstanding NHS members. This year, the program awarded $1.5 million in scholarships. Only students who are members of chapters with an active affiliation with the NHS national office are eligible to participate in the NHS Scholarship program.
